Muzio Clementi (1752-1832)

Best known for his classical piano sonatas, Clementi was one of the first composers to utilize the dynamic contrasts of the pianoforte. His formal design of the sonata became the standard and accepted practice, emulated by composers such as Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. His piano sonatas remain a standard in piano literature, and he composed over 100 pieces for this genre.
